"The Music Maestro" Oriental Magpie robins are common resident Indian birds and seen in urban dwellings and gardens too. They are the national bird of Bangladesh (called doyel) and widely used as a symbol there. They have a white wing patch with the males glossy black in color (1st pic) and the females a duller greyish brown (2nd pic). They are one of India's finest songsters and known to sing early at dawn. Right now one can hear the male bird singing actively looking for a mate. One can even find them singing from different places within a marked territory to defend from potential intruders (competing males)!!
